Dana Gioia Lecture and Poetry Reading, Youngstown State University

Dana Gioia, former NEA chairman, will be delivering a lecture on “Literature and Literacy” at 4pm, Friday, October 30th at Youngstown State University, Kilcawley Center, Jones Room. Later that evening at 7pm, Gioia will be giving a reading of his own poetry in Kilcawley Center, Jones Room. These open events are part of a two-day course on Literary Publishing.Gioia has published three full length collections of poetry and eight chapbooks. His collection, Interrogations at Noon, won the 2002 American Book Award. His 1991 Can Poetry Matter? was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award and is credited with helping revive the role of poetry in American culture.

These Youngstown State University Poetry Center events are co-sponsored by Etruscan Press, the Northeast Ohio Masters of Fine Arts program and the Metro College.
